Asphalt Plant Operator
Job Description;
Operates the asphalt plant for the production of all types of hot mix asphalt. Within (2) years of employment, the asphalt plant operator must become state certified as an asphalt plant technician. Proficient reading, writing, oral, mathematical, and computer skills are required. Must be able to perform satisfactory work in a safe manner outlined by company policy, safety training, and federal/state safety regulations.
Minimum Shift Requirements;
M-F 6am to 4pm
Saturdays – when requested by customer or management
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operate asphalt plant
Load asphalt trucks
Ticket out asphalt and aggregate trucks
Assist in maintenance and plant repairs
Maintain a clean and orderly control room and assist in plant clean up
Maintain daily operation logs and environmental records
Communicate with contractors regarding job/material specifications in a professional manner
Maintain good customer relations at all times
Qualification Requirements;
Must demonstrate the qualification necessary to perform plant operator essential duties and responsibilities through demonstration, training, and/or experience. Must demonstrate the ability to carry out work instructions and communicate in writing the required asphalt related paperwork. Ability to recognize potential issues with safety, plant, production, supply, and logistics of material and customer job requirements. Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.

Job description
Summary: Greer Industries, Inc. is seeking Underground miners with previous mining experience. The positions will perform a variety of duties in an underground mine setting. Positions include: Heavy Equipment Operators, Welders, Blasters, Plant Operators, Mechanics, Electricians, Laborers, etc.
What you'll get to do:
- Work safely and follow all federal and state laws and regulations as well as Company and Site Specific policies.
- Be willing to work in an underground environment.
- Safely and efficiently operate mobile equipment in an underground environment.
- Conduct and document pre-operational safety inspections on assigned equipment.
- Perform maintenance on plant equipment.
- Communicate repair and safety issues to supervisor and/or management.
- Be able to work weekends and overtime as business demands dictate.
- Perform within the guidelines of federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Who we are looking for:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous Mining Experience
- Experience working in an underground/surface mine environment
- Frequently lift 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
- MSHA Part 48 training (Recommended)
- Must pass Company/ATF background investigation

Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job description
The mechanic will be responsible for the daily repair and maintenance work on mobile equipment both underground and on surface. As with all jobs work must be performed in a safe manner as outlined by company policy, safety training, and federal/state safety regulations. The job requires a complete safety inspection of the mechanic’s work area as well as mobile equipment inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety inspections of equipment and related work areas.
- Equipment lubrication/greasing.
- Performs maintenance and repair work on equipment.
- Installs parts on equipment.
- Manual handling of materials and equipment.
- Performs clean-up and maintains the shop in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully and remain qualified, the individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Must be MSHA Part 48 trained (40 Hour Minimum) and having an experienced miner designation is a plus. Must be qualified to perform the mechanic’s duties and responsibilities through demonstration, training, and/or experience. Ability to carry out work instructions and have the ability to recognize, locate, diagnose, and repair equipment malfunctions, as well as perform routine maintenance tasks. Ability to recognize potential hazards and problems associated with equipment repair, and report such problems to supervision in a timely manner. Ability to communicate in writing by completing equipment checklist forms and filling out routine paperwork related to equipment repair and maintenance.

Job description
Job Summary: The Shooter/Powderman assembles, places, and detonates charges of explosives at the face and bottom production areas in the mine. The job requires a complete safety inspection of the explosives truck, explosives storage area, and mine face and bottom blast sites. The recording of the equipment safety checklist on the explosives truck is required as well as an accurate count and recording of the explosives inventory daily. As with all jobs work must be performed in a safe manner as outlined by company policy, safety training, and federal/state safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Inspects the explosives truck for safe operation, explosives storage, and mine face and bottom areas for hazardous conditions and reports any such hazardous conditions to supervision.
- Operates the shooting truck, tower truck, and performs the explosive loading and shooting process.
- Inspects all connections and tests circuits with galvanometer prior to initiating the blast.
- Performs required lock-out procedure prior to electrical hook-up.
- Maintains proper housekeeping on the shooting truck, magazines, and shot area.
- Disposes of all cartons and bags in a proper manner.
- Assures proper storage and transportation of explosives.
- Performs clean up duties.
- Manual handling of materials and equipment.
- Inspects all equipment related to the blasting process.
- Maintains and records an accurate count of all explosive materials used.
The individual awarded this job will be responsible for safe, productive, and efficient shooting process associated with underground blasting.
